Whether you’re a shooting sports aficionado, or a novice of the topic, Andrew Hyder is a household name in the world of action shooting. A USPSA member for the better part of a decade and frequent contender at nationals, Andrew placed sixth in Open in this year’s competition. Hear his experience leading up to nationals, and his greatest takeaways.Β

Prior to the 2022 USPSA Nationals, Hyder sought new sponsorship opportunities. He stumbled across Masterpiece Arms, met with their President Phil Cashin, and the rest is history.Β

β€œPhil wants everyone to shoot at their best level,” Hyder said,Β  β€œWhat Phil instilled in me was that I had to have fun. No one makes a living shooting, so if you aren’t having fun doing it, then you shouldn’t be doing it.”

Hyder experienced a lot of change going into USPSA Nationals - a newborn in the family, a new sponsorship with Masterpiece Arms, and a larger workload in his personal life. Hyder had many odds stacked against him, yet he still managed to perform successfully and have fun.

At the end of day one, Hyder was in second place down ten points. It was a surprise he wasn’t expecting. On Saturday Hyder was leading the competition, but with one minor issue he went down to third place. Sunday’s competition held the most room for error. Everyone competing ended up accruing some penalties. At the end of the match, Hyder placed sixth overall, in a division of 400 competitors. What Hyder remembers best wasn’t his ranking, but the great experience of the weekend.Β

β€œThis was the most fun I had at any nationals. Nothing was gimmicky, no staging or props,” Hyder said, β€œThe stages were awesome, the staff was great, CMP in Talladega is gorgeous.”

Additionally, Hyder enjoyed the weekend while wearing the ISOtunes Sport DEFY Slim product because it’s his favorite. β€œIt’s the best all-around hearing protection,” Hyder said.Β

With USPSA Nationals wrapped up, Andrew Hyder recalls the event as successful for everyone involved. β€œThis was a great experience for me, a great experience for Masterpiece Arms, and a great experience for ISOtunes Sport.”
